Advantages
- The Hazard 4 Spotter Range Bag has some nice features. It has decent sizing and is made with quality 1000D Cordura material which is a step up from other range bags made with mediocre polyester material. Like any other range bag, it has its main compartment and side compartment.
- The side compartment has a nice size meant for storing items like paper targets, stickers and other items. It is a slimmer compartment hence it can only hold items that are fairly sizable and not heavy. The bag also comes with MOLLE loops which a lot of people are into.
- If you are into this aspect, then you may appreciate this bag more. MOLLE makes organization easier since you can attach pouches on the bag.
- The interior of the main compartment is good. It features a lone divider that is fastened by Velcro and bigger open pockets on every end. It also includes a rigid bottom segment that provides strength to the range bag. If you want more organization though, you can opt to add bigger gun cases or magazine storage pouches on it.
- The zippers meanwhile are not mediocre but not heavy-duty either. Hence it is recommended more for light usage. The bag also includes a convenient pouch on one end outside. Users can put their gun oil and cleaning implements in it.
- All in all, the bag appears to be more recommended for light duty use. It has smaller zippers and even though it is made from authentic, durable Cordura material, the fabric is thin for heavy-duty use. Gun owners who do not stash lots of ammunition, guns or other (heavier) items can still opt to use this.
Disadvantages
- The Spotter is good. It has parts though which did not meet expectations. To begin, the bag loops do not have a size that can accommodate magazines.
- If you want to put items like paperclips, paper targets, highlighters, pens and other like materials in it, then the overall design of the bag is not that much of a problem. As mentioned earlier, this bag has a design made for light duty use so you cannot really put lots of heavy items on it nor allow it to undergo too much stress and usage.
Verdict
The Hazard 4 Spotter Dividable Range Bag has great construction and material but unfortunately, if you are after a heavy-duty range bag, you will be disappointed with this.
This is still a fair option for casual gun owners or shooters who do not carry with them lots of ammunition, guns or other items. Or you can use it as an accompanying bag for your other range bag which can tote your weapons and other similar articles.
However it’s convenience we are talking about here and of course, you do not want to end up carrying two bags at the range. Hence this one is for light duty usage only.
If you want something that can bear the brunt of your shooting style, you should opt for a bag that has better design and thicker, more durable material. There are bags from Nexpack and 5.11 which are capable of accommodating a good amount of heavier content.
When it comes to range bags, always choose the item that will be able to take in your needs and preferences. In addition, invest in quality bags that will stand the test of time and your shooting style.
