What to Put in a Range Bag

In the past years, shooting has become a hobby that many people have shown interest in. It is no longer exclusive to men in uniform who are trained to protect people. Well, it has been that way for quite some time, but people these days are taking an interest in learning how to shoot.

And it is not only because they find it necessary to protect themselves from bad people. There are many establishments which have made shooting such an exciting activity.

As a result, more and more people are being encouraged to sign up for shooting lessons and reap the other benefits of target shooting, aside from learning how to properly wield a gun, of course.

Target shooting has proven to be a good way of managing stress. It is also a form of exercise. In fact, it is considered as an excellent physical and mental exercise. First of all, you have to be fit enough for the training.

And the tactical strategies that you will learn in the courses will definitely improve your decision making. It lets you feel involved and motivated to hit all of the targets in the field. The total experience is definitely exhilarating, making you want to come back again and again.

Now, as soon as you sign up for a shooting class, you will be required to have your own set of equipment.

Of course, some establishments will provide some of the stuff as part of the package. But things like gloves, ear and eye protection, and goggles are things that you might want to have personally.

And as you become dedicated to the activity and actually develop it as a hobby overtime, you will have your own set of equipment to use every time you practice.

While it is perfectly fine to use a regular bag for all your shooting equipment, there’s actually a dedicated bag designed specifically for this purpose. It’s called a range bag and every shooting enthusiast is recommended to have one.

On the exterior, a range bag may look like a typical sports duffel bag; but inside, it has all the dedicated compartments intended for specific shooting gear pieces such as magazines, ammunition, and others. It is more convenient to use because it allows you to arrange your stuff in an organized manner.

That way, you will know where to get which and eliminate the hassle of rummaging through your bag to look for shooting gear which tend to be in small pieces.

If you are fairly new to shooting, you may have very little knowledge about what to bring to the range. Aside from your gun and ammunition, there’s a whole list of other items that you will need in the range. Here’s a list of things that you should have in your range bag,

Eye protection

Whether you are doing target or tactical shooting, wearing eye protection is very important. Even those who are already expert shooters still use ear and eye protection.

If you don’t have any yet, be sure to get something that is comfortable to wear, durable, and stylish. Also, be sure that it meets the OSHA standards so you can guarantee it is safe to use.

Ear Protection

Aside from your sight, you also need to protect your ears when you’re at the range. The loud noise and vibration from the shooting can damage your ear drums, and it can be worse if you are a regular at the range.

You don’t need fancy ear protection; simple ear plugs or earmuffs will do. If you have some extra budget for your ear protection device, you can buy ones with electronic noise cancelling properties.

There are hearing protection devices that filter loud gunshots, allowing you to carry out conversations without having to remove your ear protection.

Spotting Scope

When you are at the firing line, it can be hard to see if your shots are actually landing on your targets. You will need a spotting scope to check if your rounds are impacting your targets. There are a lot of available spotting scopes and binoculars to choose from.

Maintenance tools

Needless to say, shooting gear and materials don’t come cheap. That means that if you want to maximize its value and get the most out of your money, you have to maintain it in a good condition. Always have a cleaning kit in your range bag.
